may be considered a "necessary evil"--nobody likes the process. You
are at the end of your project and think that it's over. But no; there is the
final step of getting your work edited.
This
stage is important even if you're a good writer. It's always difficult to pick
out your own mistakes and these miss steaks can be a distraction to your
readers much like potholes in an otherwise smooth road.
There
are different levels of editing work. They are:
Proofreading
- Your writing is checked for mechanics and grammar such as:
Subject-verb
agreement, Capitalization
Abbreviation
Acronyms
Misplaced
modifiers
Parallelism in sentence structure
Pronoun-antecedent agreement
Sentence
fragments
Hyphenation
Numbers (Twenty-five vs. 25)
Dates and
time (correct format)
Punctuation (Apostrophes, Commas,Colons,Dashes, Ellipsis
points, Periods, Question marks and exclamation points, Quotation marks, Semicolons)
Spelling
(American English)
Use of 'that' vs 'which'
Commonly confused words
(i.e. allude/elude, alternate/alternative, affect/effect, their/they're/there,
its/it's, you/your)
Copyediting
- Includes the above plus possible rewriting for clarity and cutting down on wordiness
and redundancy. E.g.:
"owing
to the fact that" - because
"call your attention to the fact
that" - remind you
Rewriting
- This is the case where your writing may be too fragmented and 'damaged'
to require just normal repairs. For example, if English is your second language
this may be the route to take.
Pricing
And Payment Policy
Proofreading
is $20 per page with a minimum of $250 per project. (page=250 words)
Copyediting
is $35 per page with a minimum of $500 per project.
Rewriting
is $55 per page with a minimum of $1,000 per project.
For
any project that is $500 and under, downpayment is 100% upfront. For projects
above $500, the downpayment will be 50% at time of submission and 50% balance
at time of FIRST delivery of project.
Preferred
method of payment is through Paypal, but I also accept payment through
Paysystems.com, StormPay and money orders that can be drawn on a US Bank.
